Don’t Give Up…Not Just Yet.

January 16, 2008

Are you frustrated with your job search and about to give up? Before you give up have you been doing the following:

  • Searching everyday for new job leads
  • Expanding your job options to include more than data entry/typing
  • Creating a career plan which you decide how many hours you need to work, what you’re skilled in, how much you need to make, what type of jobs you’re looking for…etc
  • Hired a professional resume writer to revamp your resume package
  • Following up after you apply or are interviewed
  • Expanded your idea of work from home to include freelancing or even a virtual assistant business
  • Invested in your career with learning material or services that assist in finding jobs
  • Been an active participant of a message board in order to network with other telecommuters

Finding a job is truly a job in itself. And finding and landing a telecommuting job is even more difficult than a job outside the home. It’ll take time and a lot of effort.

The all time book to read about life/work planning is:
What Color Is Your Parachute? The 2008 edition is out as he, Dick Bolles, the author, revises it yearly. It is dense & often methodical, but what do job seekers need, after all, it not to have an anchor to hold onto.

(I’m humbled to have a listing in it for this part of WA state as a career development resource. Go read!

I have read the above book and still have a copy in my library:-)

My advise to any and all who truely want to work at home - if you want to give up, then go ahead, there are many others just waiting to take your place. Because if your dream is to wah you wouldn’t be thinking of quitting but rather spending your time & energy finding a way to make it happen.

The items listed above are solid business advise. Here’s some additional questions to ask: Do you visualize yourself working at home? Do you have goals & use affirmations? Is working at home really the path you want to take? - Personally, I always found that angels and prayers can offer ideas/inspiration in times when I was trying to make changes in my life or career. And finally, if you have woman’s intuition - NOW is the time to listen & use it!!

My Business Advise is that if you have spent more than a couple of weeks looking for a home based job - and have gotten no bites, no offers - then you need to STOP, and evaluate what’s going on because there’s something that you’re not doing right. Be smart, find out what area is blocking your path and holding you back then find a way to climb over it.

Got something to say?
