Loretta Oliver - Success Story

January 30, 2008 | Leave a Comment

Loretta started her telecommuting job search venture approximately 7 years ago while she was working for an onsite telemarketing company. Although the job helped pay the bills, it turned out to be a negative experience for her. She felt that some of the companies’ policies went against her own personal values, so she decided to find another job.

She was a member of a work at home website community at the time, so she made the ultimate plunge to look for telecommuting work so she could quit her onsite telemarketing job. The website community that she joined helped her network with other work at home moms that were in the same situation as she was. It helped spur some creative ideas to brew in her head as to where she wanted her telecommuting career to go.

Don’t Give Up…Not Just Yet.

January 16, 2008 | 2 Comments

Are you frustrated with your job search and about to give up? Before you give up have you been doing the following:

  • Searching everyday for new job leads
  • Expanding your job options to include more than data entry/typing
  • Creating a career plan which you decide how many hours you need to work, what you’re skilled in, how much you need to make, what type of jobs you’re looking for…etc
  • Hired a professional resume writer to revamp your resume package
  • Following up after you apply or are interviewed
  • Expanded your idea of work from home to include freelancing or even a virtual assistant business
  • Invested in your career with learning material or services that assist in finding jobs
  • Been an active participant of a message board in order to network with other telecommuters

Finding a job is truly a job in itself. And finding and landing a telecommuting job is even more difficult than a job outside the home. It’ll take time and a lot of effort.

WAHM I am, but WAHM owner I’m not.

January 11, 2008 | Leave a Comment

This is a tad bit off topic, as it isn’t sharing any advice or teaching you something about telecommuting. However, I feel it important to share. I’ve been receiving email for at least a couple of years from people who found me from wahm.com. And for some reason, these people think I own that website. I want to be clear that I used to be an active message board member and worked for the previous owner, but I have not (and do not) own the website.

I just want to be clear so that you aren’t confused by the matter. The previous owner, Cheryl Demas, has sold the business to a large company, but I believe she is still an active part of the website. I’m the owner of JustOnlineJobs and we have a great forum over there that I do run and moderate.

I do hope this helps to clear up any confusion.

My Life Monday: Where I’m At

January 7, 2008 | Leave a Comment

“Nell, what are some of the places you network?”

Networking is important to a telecommuter, freelancer, business owner….I’ve found it to be a vital part of my work at home career. You’ll not want to spend too much of your time hanging around forums, but if you do visit in moderation they can be powerful tools to your success.

The places I’ve networked have changed over the years as my career has grown and my needs have changed. I started out at places like wahm.com. I then added networking sites inside of ryze to my list, but since have dropped all my networking there.

I’ve been a member of SelfStartersWeeklyTips.com and am part of her private coaching folder within that forum. This forum is great for business owners. Mom Masterminds is one of the best resources of networking I’ve ever found. I’ve formed partnerships with members, found great VA’s and writers to use, networked with other people in my field and have the added benefit of the coaches and resources there.

And I’m always over at JustOnlineJobs.com - which is the forum I own and run. There are so many lovely members over there that always offer their all when somebody needs advice or help. I also know that some of the members there networked with other’s and that’s how they got work from home. In fact, a couple of the people that work with me do so because they joined the forum, networked with us, and we learned of their talents.

This is a tiny fraction of the awesome places online. But, I don’t want to overload you. Networking and learning at forums is important, but it’s also important not to get lost in them…and to make sure you’re joining quality forums that can offer you the type of networking and learning that’ll be good for your career/business.

Hey, if you like IM type networking then twitter might be your cup of tea, too. I network at twitter and enjoy the instant gratification of twitter. This is my page at twitter. If you join, add me to your list so we can follow each other.

Happy Monday!

p.s

If you don’t belong to my newsletter or my forum, then you likely don’t know about the new ebook I just opened up for sale today. It’s all about telecommuting and the first ebook I’ve created on this topic. You’re going to learn everything you’ll need to know and won’t be subjected to any fluff or unrealistic promises….the basics that’ll help you find and get jobs.

You can learn all the information about this ebook and it’s extra goodies at: http://www.telecommutinganswerlady.com/jobsearchanswers.html

Do you need an hourly income from home?

January 6, 2008 | 1 Comment

Do you want to work from home? Would you like to earn an hourly income from home? If yes, then you’ll want to come to my work at home forum at JustOnlineJobs.com. This forum has been up and running for a long time, but has recently undergone a make-over of sorts, with the addition of many new folders.

Some of these new folders include a freelancing section, virtual assistant folder, special offers folder, ghost writing folder, and a folder where business owners can post their projects or jobs.

In addition to the new folders, you’ll also find new freelance jobs and work at home jobs posted today, and many new posts in all of the folders.

I’m telling you, one of the best tools to finding and landing work from home is by networking. If you’re ready to dip your toe into (or dive head first in!) networking with others then I invite you over!

And please, don’t just lurk around. I’d really like to get to know you better and we all (the forum members) are more than happy and willing to assist you in finding a way to work from home. And hey, if you just need a good laugh or to share about your day, we have a folder for that, too.

I hope to meet you over at the forum. See you soon…I hope! ;–)

Right this way to the Work at Home Jobs Message Board.
