When You Have Time On Your Hands…
December 13, 2007 | 1 Comment
…you get a lot done!
I just blogged earlier today that my cable was out. So, I spent the day with the kids, cleaning up, handling other household duties, reading my copy of the December WC, and writing blog posts.
The WC, for those of you who don’t know, is a PACKED to the brim with never before seen articles and content & a members only audio printed magazine for work-at-home moms. (comes out monthly) You’ll get a little bit of everything a work-at-home mom could need to know in each issue.
I have written for this magazine since it was created a long while ago, but have slacked off a bit in the past several months. After sitting down and reading all the great articles this month and having no internet to distract me, I sat down and cranked out a really good, 1200 word article for the magazine. It might need to be turned into two articles, since it’s so long, but there was sooo much to include in the article.
So, I guess when I have time on my hands, have my fresh copy of the WC, and am cut off from the internet, I crank out a good article. ;–)
If you’d like to subscribe and claim your own copy of this one of a kind magazine, click this link. If you join, read my article, and have feedback or questions about the topic please shoot me an email anytime.
When It Ices…
December 12, 2007 | 2 Comments
When you get hit by a large ice storm, you tend to lose power and/or cable. Well, we’ve been hit bg time. Tons of power outages all over the greater Kansas City area. In addition to the power, there is wide spread outages for cable.
Thankfully, we have our power, but no cable internet, phone, and barely any TV. I’m at my MIL’s right now, so I could let you know what was going on, but my daily blog posts and job leads will have to be haulted until we get our cable back.
I’ve got no idea when that’ll be since it’s so wide spread, but I’m hoping I won’t have to go much longer. I’m missing my connection to the online world, doing my projects, and updating my blog!
Sorry for this everyone….hopefully, everything will be back to normal soon.

Three Tips Thursday: Researching Companies
December 6, 2007 | Leave a Comment
1. Search on google.com with the name of the company and the word scam behind it. For example: nameofcompany.com scam or name of company scam — if there has been talk on the internet about the company being a scam it’ll likely pull up in the search results.
2. Ask on forums. This is one of the most valuable tools available to the telecommuter. Forums are usually filled with people who have been scammed and now know how to spot a scam. They’ll be able to warn you of a company, share their own experiences, and hopefully prevent you from being scammed. One to check out would be mine at JustOnlineJobs.com.
3. Another way to find information on a company and see if their information adds up, is to pull up their company information on the whois database. You can access the whois database at godaddy.com. If the company says they’ve been online since 2001, they operate out of Texas, and the owner is Jim Doe, you’ll be able to verify the facts via whois. It isn’t going to tell you if something is a scam, but it’s just yet another tool to aid in your research of a company.
If you have a question about researching companies, please leave it in the comments field. I’ll be more than happy to answer them.
If you have your own tip to share, we’d love to read that too. Simply leave it in the comments field.
